Due to the unfortunate event of Special Ops bassist Waldo Thornhill being diagnosed with colon cancer just days before the Special Ops “Bringin The Madness” cross Canada tour was to kick off on May 2nd in Ottawa. The decision to cancel all May tour dates has been made. “This is really a difficult moment for me, I really wanted to do this tour, but on the advice of my doctors I mukst remain in Montreal and do treatment. Says Thornhill. “It was a life or death choice for me and I want to thanks the fans for understanding and I look forward to my return to the stage.”
The dates that will be performed from the scheduled tour are the following:
June 7, 2008, - The Underground, 41 Catharine St., Hamilton, Ontario
June 28, 2008 - Club Social, 810 East Main Street, Welland, Ontario
July 19, 2008 - Bar St Laurent, 5550 St. Laurent. Montreal, Quebec
“It’s a difficult choice for the band as a whole, were so close like a family and have this happen to one of us it just shocking, but I know the music will heal us all.” Says SO guitarist Akbar Johnson. Bassist Waldo Thornhill will be entering treatment and is thanking the support of family, friends and fans for this difficult time. “I’m going kick the ass out of this cancer, who does it think it is creeping into my bum.” Says Thornhill.

Neuraxis Begins Recording New Album
Canadian tech-death thrashers NEURAXIS will enter the studio February 19 with producer Jef Fortin (of fellow Canadians ANONYMUS) to record their fifth studio album. The recording process will be completed by late March, after which the effort will be mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, CONVERGE, SHADOWS FALL). The CD will feature artwork by Dennis Sibeijn of Damnengine Art (JOB FOR A COWBOY, CHIMAIRA). The as-yet-untitled LP is tentatively scheduled for release in July through Prosthetic Records.
"We feel this album will be something monumental for NEURAXIS," says guitarist Rob Milley. "With the new lineup and the energy we have created in the writing sessions, it's something that is new and refreshing, yet still retains a lot of the essence of what NEURAXIS has built since day one."
The new album will be the first studio release to feature new vocalist Alex Leblanc and guitarist
William Seghers, who previously appeared on the "Live Progression" CD (Galy Records).
"Live Progression" is the live follow-up to NEURAXIS' last studio album, 2005's "Trilateral Progression".

Negativa Announce New Member
NEGATIVA, the Quebec-based band featuring former GORGUTS members Steeve Hurdle (guitars) and Luc Lemay (guitars), along with Etienne Gallo (drums, ex-AUGURY) and Miguel Valade (bass, ex-ION DISSONANCE), is thrilled to announce the addition of new vocalist, Roxanne Constantin, who has worked with QUO VADIS and AUGURY.
Commented Hurdle : "With her emotional voice, her love and knowledge of music, Roxanne will add a fresh colour to our sound. We felt that it was time for us to explore new avenues, so we’ve made significant changes to our musical approach. The four musicians are now involved in the writing process, which brings more diversity to our sound. Our music is therefore becoming more experimental, progressive and ambient. This natural evolution will broaden our horizons sound-wise. We’re really looking forward to share our new creation with all of you."
Last June, the band went back to Wild Studio to record the instrumental version of three new songs: Deepen the mystery (9:46); The loss (14:56); …And the unknown (6:52). They will be back in studio to record the vocals at the beginning of next year.
NEGATIVA's debut-MCD (2006) can be heard online, but the most recent song on that demo was written six years ago.
